Ethos

We discovered this amazing little restaurant (through a friend) about two weeks ago and have since been back for dinner twice.  Ethos is a vegetarian and vegan restaurant located just off Khao San Road.

I am not a vegetarian (and Kyle is most definitely not a vegetarian) – but Ethos serves some of the most delicious food we have tasted since being in Bangkok! The menu hosts a variety of food which primarily targets the health conscious individual, but one can still order a variety of noodle dishes. If you have been living in Bangkok (or Thailand for that matter) for a while, you will understand that it is both easier and cheaper to order and eat dishes prepared by street vendors. However, it does not take long for a craving for healthy food to prevail…

What to eat?

  • The falaffel and pita bread is outstanding! The dish is served with 3 falafel, a large portion of humus and a fresh out of the oven, pita bread.
  • A large variety of salads are available to order – all the ingredients are fresh, making you feel healthy just by looking at it!
  • The veggie burger is also delicious – only thing I did not enjoy was the density of the bread rolls which it came with. The buns are freshly baked on sight, containing no wheat. Although a much healthier option, do not order the veggie burger if you are not a fan of dense bread.
  • The breakfast menu also hosts a variety of delicious meals ranging from muesli and yoghurt, crepes and porridge.

Can you share?

Most definitely! The portions are large and a falafel dish can definitely be shared if an extra pita bread is ordered.

Atmosphere?

  • You have the option to sit on cushions gathered around low lying tables or at proper seating tables. The restaurant does not have aircon – only a number of scattered fans, so prepare to feel a little bit toasty!
  • As the restaurant positions itself on health – Coke and other fizzy soda drinks have been crossed off the menu. Also, only red wine and not white wine can be purchased.
  • Wifi access is available – but is limited during busy periods during the day.

Price?

  • Ethos is completely affordable. Average dishes range from around 90 – 150 Baht, with an extra pita bread costing a mere 25 Baht.
  • Drinks are affordable to0 – with a large Singha Beer costing 70 Baht.

Location?

  • Finding the restaurant is easy – get a taxi to Tanao Road at the top of Khao San Road (use Burger King as a point of reference to know where to get out).
  • Walk past one or two streets on the Burger King side of the road, before turning right into a side street.
  • Look down the road to your left, and you will see the Ethos sign.
