Asiatique is an evening shopping and dining experience which can be enjoyed by everyone! It is open every night of the week from 5pm. This classy night market is easy to find… Once you exit the Saphan Taksin BTS Station, follow the signs to the riverside port. From here, you have the option to take a free ferry service across to the market or you can pay for a private ferry taxi. Do not be fooled – as with everywhere in Bangkok, there are lurking locals trying to take a chance and lure tourists into their scams. You are are more than likely going to get to the pier and be approached by someone who says you have to take a private shuttle (for a significant fee!) because you have ‘just missed the ferry’. You haven’t – it will be back shortly, so no need to pay any extra.

This market is pretty big – divided into four, easy to navigate sections. However, the amount of browsing which you do – is completely personal. Although we looked at a few stores, the majority of our evening was spent enjoying a delicious pizza and glass of red wine! Food and drink prices vary from restaurant to restaurant – with the more expensive dining spots located on the waters edge. However, it is really not difficult to find a budget suited restaurant elsewhere.

Another highlight of this market (which we did not do) is the Big Wheel. The views from the top must be incredible and I hope to return soon to experience this element of the market! The shops can be describe as more cutting edge than your average Bangkok Market – with clothing items ranging considerably in price. It is a great place to visit if you are looking to take a few souvenirs back or enjoy some live entertainment at the Cabaret Show!
